On March 27th, 2015, András Török, founding Director of Summa Artium, a non-profit company and arts & business center, gave a talk for the Center on FORTEPAN, an open-source, online digital archive of photographs taken by amateur photographers. FORTEPAN, named after a camera film manufacturer, seeks to draw attention to the work of unknown and amateur photographers who captured everyday Hungarian life in the 20th Century.

CES has created a FORTEPAN Florida site with UF Digital Collections to archive and showcase photographs from European immigrants to Florida. This site and these images will be the visual representation of Florida’s connection to the EU through its shared citizenry. The logic of FORTEPAN UF is to capture the history of everyday European immigrants in order to highlight the interconnectedness of Florida’s population and Europe.
